Everyone deserves some good karma, right?

Giving back is a wonderful thing to do. As artists, we’re here to serve and create value with our art. It’s a beautiful thing. Today, your community needs you more than ever. Here are our 5 Benefits of helping your community

1. The Gift

Real people love community involvement.

It shows that artists are using their talents to make a good change for the people. What if we could encourage artists to become active fundraisers for book donations to libraries, kids’ music lessons, even new TV or radio episodes?

Giving something away is easily misunderstood these days. The giver benefits more than the recipient. The act of being generous makes us rich beyond measure, and as the goods or services spread through the community, everyone benefits.

2. Create Social Impact

How can artists create camaraderie in the local music scene?

Can we hold benefit concerts for people in need? What if we gathered a few local artists who read articles like this to take action and start a new movement?

You can do this with your band or small business, and with any event that you truly believe in. Reach out and invite other artists to join you. Imagine the growth in the community. It’s time to get involved.

3. Real Growth

When diving into your community, networking opportunities will be endless.

Rather than the usual way of performing at local bars, clubs, and venues for exposure, you will have the help of your community and all of their resources to back you.

When you perform for a charitable event, you can leverage all of those individuals there to help you with future bookings, perhaps even gain some private or corporate bookings. The idea here is to give a little back, the returns will always come back to you.

4. Real Change

Take a look around you, how many bands and artists do you know?

How many of those are in the lucky percentile that performs for a living? Research shows that many bands build from an ideology of “making it big” in other words becoming rich and famous.

Some can make this happen, but it’s their drive and the community they support that helps them. What if we encouraged all artists to change their mindset to “How can I use my talent to help as many people as possible.” The focus now shifts from the struggling musician to creating a positive impact on the people around you. The value increases and your audience will grow with you.

5. Purpose

Purpose is what gives life meaning.

When we write and create with purpose, it is powerful. There are times when you perform for a few people at a local club who may or may not be interested.

Imagine the difference when performing for your own community, for the people who serve and sacrifice for our country, for children fighting disease. Continue to engage your audience and create value with a purpose. Improve each day and never look back.

Summary:

How will you use these ideas to grow within your community? I’d love to hear from you.
