Hi Briana, welcome to VQS!
Tell us a little bit about you and your music.

country singer songwriter briana lyn

I am a Country Pop Singer-Songwriter, Session Singer, Host, and Actor based in Los Angeles. I moved to Los Angeles from Minneapolis in 2019, 6 months before the pandemic.

While in Minneapolis, I had opportunities to sing the national anthem at the Target Center as well as various venues across Minneapolis as a soloist and as a guest artist with other bands. Since moving to Los Angeles, I’ve sung at venues across LA and Southern California including The Dresden and Molly Malone’s Irish Pub. I am a classically trained vocalist and pianist and received a Bachelor’s in Music from North Central University in Minneapolis, MN.

I record vocals and voiceovers for various projects out of my home recording studio in Studio City. My vocal styles cross over to pop, country, jazz and classic-Disney-style show tunes.

I’ve often been compared to a young Dolly Parton, Jodi Benson (Ariel from Little Mermaid), and Amy Grant among others. I’m currently a podcast host for VQS Studio. I also host a weekly IG live called “Artist Conversations” where I interview artists from all over the country.

Congrats on the release! What was your inspiration for this new song?

Released 6/11/21. This song was written over 6 years ago while I was going through a difficult time in a dating relationship. I was trying to find answers outside of me, through things that really didn’t fix the issue.

I really had to do some soul searching and get healing in my own heart instead of running away from the problem which was just masking it.

This song is a story about a journey of discovery, finding myself in situations with people that seemed like they were my friends but turned on me.

What lessons would you like to impart with your audience?

I think in life, when you really take a look around you, you’ll find life is speaking to you based on what’s happening around you. You have a choice how you’re going to handle the situation.

I wrote the chorus after remembering a Bible passage where Jesus said, “the water I give you you will never thirst.”

I knew by going to my source which is in my relationship with God I’d find the answers I needed. The chorus is a reminder that nothing can bring the satisfaction you need until you go to a higher power.

What is your favorite part of the song?

I’d say the chorus is my favorite part of this song because it’s so catchy and just easy to sing. I especially love the part where it says “I’m drinkin’ from something new”.

My second favorite part of this song is the instrumental part leading into the bridge because it has this theatrical element to it and you don’t exactly know where it’s going to take you which makes it mysterious and a little bit eerie.

Anything else we should know about it? Future releases?

This song came to life with the help of my music producer Kosta Lois who is one of the most talented producers I’ve ever met. He is soo easy to work with and knows how to draw out songs and ideas in people. I also made a music video for it which you can see on my YouTube channel.

In July I’ll be releasing a song (not an original) called “A Night we Won’t Remember” written by Erik Isaacs, Lyla Joyce, and Robert Stevenson and produced by Kosta Lois. In August I’ll be releasing another original song called “Runaway” which I’m so excited for! In September/October I’ll be releasing another song.
