“Pink Lightning” is electrifying and magnetic with incredible production that is very authentic to today’s electronic pop-dance scene. Dani graces us with a colorful, powerful and controlled voice. I get the sense that she has a lot more hidden power waiting to be unleashed and I would be very excited to see her LIVE!

It starts with filtered steel drums, and there is a summery, liberating feeling to “Pink Lightning,” a powerful song with all the elements of a great, current-sounding pop song. Dani’s voice is perfect for this style! A versatile performance, emphasized by pristine production.

Hi Dani, welcome to VQS!
Tell us a little bit about you and your music.
I’m a singer, songwriter, professional touring keyboardist and background vocalist, educator, and producer. I started writing music when I was seven years old and never stopped! I draw inspiration from events in my life as well as those that are close to me…sometimes I will be inspired by a movie or book or political event. Overall, I try my best to combine elements of polished rawness in my sound and something that can cut through to the heart of the listener.

Congrats on the release!
What was your inspiration for this new single?
Released 5/21/21. Thank you! I was on tour at the time and a few days before I wrote this song (which was in my hotel room), I was in Houston, Texas. I was in a parking lot on my way to visit an old friend and a streak of pink lightning flashed across the sky.
I’ve always loved lightning storms from when I was just a tiny child.
I remember sitting next to the back door screen during storms with the door cracked open so I could listen to the rumble of the clouds and the rush of the rain. If the lightning was really strong, I would run up to the top floor and the farthest bedroom at the end of the hall.
There was a window in that room that had an amazing view for miles (since our house sat on a hill). I would watch the lightning strike through the clouds. Something about it invigorated me.
The lightning reminded me of all the times I witnessed it’s power in my past and became the electric metaphor for an experience I had.
What lessons would you like to impart with your audience?
My vision for this song is number one…to get people DANCING! I want people to relate to it and hope that it can help facilitate thinking outside of generic stereotypes. I want it to promote genuine curiosity, exploration, discovery while remaining true to who they are…and loving every moment of the growing pains!
What is your favorite part of the song?
My favorite part is the ending after the second Chorus. Instead of going into a Bridge and back to a final Chorus…we decided to kind of switch things up and take liberty in doing a “bridge-ending”. “Strike me once, strike me twice, like a dagger dancing in the night sky…” Those lines just came to me instantly and it just gelled together.
Anything else we should know about it? Future releases?
This song went through four transformations! I still have the original demo from the hotel room, which I plan to release very soon along with the alternate versions so fans can get a sense of how songs develop over time.
Some songs have many versions and some songs just came out in 1! This was one of those many version songs! I will be releasing another single from the album and then the full album, Dreamland, will be available later this year! 2021 is the year of the release!
