I started playing trumpet at the age of 11. From the moment I picked up the horn, I knew what I had wanted to do the rest of my life….perform! At the age of 13, I planned what college I would attend and what my goals were after college. When I attended the Berklee college of music in Boston, MA I knew I was for sure in the right place! I then auditioned for a cruise line company after graduation and quickly started performing all the production shows on the cruise line for about four years. I then moved to LA because I had more dreams on “land” that I wanted to conquer! Since then, doors have opened for me and more dreams have been made. Here I am today still performing almost every night with various groups and recording for various artists but I’m now finally making my own music and sharing it to the world! To get in touch with me, feel free to send me a message.
Hannah, thank you for joining us today at VQS. What core values do you believe are necessary for success?
Find a passion that you can see yourself doing every single day, never get bored with it and build up the confidence to take any criticism from yourself or those around you. Once you have built up the confidence you then need to understand the consequences that may come from what you chose to do. For example, being a musician you may not have a steady income at times, you might have to have roommates a little bit longer than the average person, you may not have insurance as fast as you’d like, and you could be underpaid for the craft that you chose. Once you have accepted the consequences, you need to build your personality outside of your craft. This is one step that many seem to fail upon. A personality is a major key besides being great at what you do. Humans have an energy around them that either gravitates towards people or pushes them away I believe. When you have a great positive energy that shows in your personality you work better with those in your working circle and it makes others want to be in yours. I also believe that you should try not to get distracted by others around you that tend to be negative, stay in your own path, make new goals for yourself to keep you driven, know who is using you for their advancement only and always surround yourself with people who believe in your success and not your failure.
What future opportunities would you like to be involved with?
Let me start by saying there are many, so with that said I would love to perform my own music at JAVA Jazz, New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival as well as any big stage with a great atmosphere, energy and vibes! I would like to collaborate with more artists like myself to create more music that is meaningful to people in relation to their own lives. Recording at Capitol Records would be an amazing opportunity as there is so much history there that I would love to be a part of. My biggest goal would be to attend, perform and be a winner at the Grammys because I believe if you
shoot for the stars, anything possible. Overall, I believe anything to do with my music is an opportunity and though it may not always seem like it, one day my day will come and until then I hope to have more opportunities to perform on stage with artist like Suzan Lucas, Walter Wax, Ian Charlie, and Andrea Lisa who are making things happen which is what I love to see and hope to continue to be a part of.
