Tell us a little bit about you and your music.
I am a San Francisco based Synthpop Singer/Songwriter.
Hello! Thank you! My name is Janice Lee, a synthpop singer/songwriter based in the San Francisco Bay Area. I was introduced to music at an early age, growing up around my father’s active involvement in the Filipino-American live music scene in the Bay Area in the ‘80s and ’90s. I dabbled with different instruments throughout my life but took music seriously after college.
I felt deeply connected with the process and it was clear too that this was my calling.
I then made the decision to commit to studying voice and piano. From there, I started experimenting with piano composition and writing original music. My synthpop style is influenced by a combination of many artists. From Dua Lipa, CHIC, Miley Cyrus, Earth, Wind & Fire, Erykah Badu, Pharrell Williams, Bruno Mars, Bill Evans, Chicago, Charlie Puth, Corinne Bailey Rae, and among many others, I draw inspiration from all styles and genres of music.
I’m grateful to enjoy this musical process with my fiancé, as he is my producer. We have an in-home studio, and absolutely love creating together. I aim to uplift and excite my listeners. I desire to create universal connection, build community, and share feelings of pure joy to my music fans everywhere.

What was your inspiration for this new song?
Released August 27, 2021. I was inspired by a combination of many decades. I was listening to Miley Cyrus’ newest album, The Weeknd, a lot of ’60s and ’70s, and just anything that made me feel good and dance. As far as content, I was drawing inspiration from my own experience of adversity and knowing that this is a subject matter I know I’m not alone in experiencing.
What was your vision for “Brand New”?
The song is about taking on the world as a new, transformed, and happier person overall.
Brand New is about healing and overcoming sadness and troubles. The big takeaway would be to start viewing life as this single opportunity to make the most out of being alive and choosing a life of joy and happiness.
What is your favorite part of the song?
I love every single part, but obviously, the chorus is my absolute favorite! It’s fun, the high point of the song, and it’s just rounds everything out musically and conceptually. It’s a point of realization and release. I find it so addictive!

There is something BIG in the works, but it’s a surprise!
