Kia’s “Worth It”

Bold, empowering, and full of fresh life!
Kia’s back with an epic anthem about self struggle that grabs our hearts and never lets off. Powerful vocals and phenomenal production.

“There will be struggles and there will be doubt, both external and internal. But the only person who’s going to get you out of that mindset, is yourself.” – Kia

Kia, welcome back to VQS! Tell us a little bit about you and your music.
I’m Kia, a Dutch/Indonesian singer soulwriter based in Los Angeles. I moved to The States about two years ago for music and getting my master’s degree as you can guess it also in; music. I specialized in commercial music so the strong genres that you can really hear back are combination of Pop, Soul and R&B.

Congrats on the release! What was your inspiration for this song?
Thanks! When the song first started, Daniel Capellaro, Simon Jay and I had this idea of self love in a social setting but as we continued to write and continued to listen to it, it applies to so many more aspects of life. A theme that will be reoccurring in life and something that we’ll never stop searching for.
There will be struggles and there will be doubt, both external and internal. And to be honest, we can be very mean to ourselves sometimes; we hold ourselves back, because we simply think that we aren’t good enough. But the only person who’s going to get you out of that mindset, is yourself. It’s important to find self-love, self-respect, and self-worth.
So in the beginning of the writing process it was about an external personal situation, but as we kept writing I had an epiphany that it was more of an internal realization. If we allow ourselves, we control a lot more than what we think we’re capable.
What is your vision for this song? What lessons would you like to impart with your audience?
My hope with this song is to feel that sense of empowerment, I want the song to support people and maybe get to the same realization point that I got too; that we ARE powerful and that we ARE more than enough! You just have to allow yourself to confidently try things.
What is your favorite part of the song?
My favorite part would be the the second verse, this is just so personal. “I’m my father’s daughter he gave me his eyes
My mother’s example to let my love shine
Sometimes it’s hard for me, so hard for me to see it
That little girl she’s staring at me
Could see on her face what I used to be
She won’t be silenced”
Anything else we should know about it? Future releases? Upcoming shows?
With the current COVID-19 situation this is still a little uncertain as for the recording date of my live studio album but in the meantime I am writing new music and who knows, I might release some!
