NEW SINGLE
“Empowering, expressive and full of emotion.
“We have to stick together to each other and support each other because love in its many forms is the only thing that can help us through the storms.” – MiruDaru
MiruDaru, welcome to VQS! Tell us a little bit about you and your music.
We are a brother and sister duet from Venezuela now based in Los Angeles. Our musical style is a fusion of Pop, Jazz and Ballads. We like to incorporate multicultural aspects into our songs and shows so we can create a different sound and musical experience. We are heavily influenced by Japanese Pop and traditional Japanese culture which in addition to our Latin-American blood and American school has helped us create intercultural bridges with our music. We like to tell stories that people can relate to; we are looking to connect with the listener and make them feel understood, human and encouraged. Our songs come from the love we receive, the pain we experience when things are the hardest, and the encouragement we feel we all need to keep moving forward.
Congrats on the release! What was your inspiration for this song?
This song came from all the overwhelming feelings that came to us due to the quarantine. We come from a country devastated by political corruption, where bad news flood everyday’s broadcasting. We’ve always advocated for hope and even when we were back home, we tried to make a difference and share love with those around us. We wanted to do the same with this song. Halfway through the quarantine it was only bad news everywhere, and we felt that our spirits were heavy and defeated. It was time to spread a different message; a message of courage, love and understanding for all of those who were drowning in uncertainty just as we were.
What is your vision for this song? What lessons would you like to impart with your audience?
This song is meant for all of us who might feel lonely, defeated, depressed, overwhelmed sometimes. It’s hard to reach out when you are feeling this things, and we forget that we are not alone. There’s always going to be someone there for you. We want our audience to know that we do understand and that we are sending love and prayers to all the people who feel this way. We have to stick together to each other and support each other because love in its many forms is the only thing that can help us through the storms.
What is your favorite part of the song?
“Even if I cannot feel your touch, just know I’m here to lift your soul” this is something that we use to forget the most. There’s always someone you can talk to who might uplift you when you need it the most.
Anything else we should know about it? Future releases? Upcoming shows?
Our latest album “Pop!” is available in all streaming platforms. Also, we’ll be releasing another EP soon with piano versions of our favorite ballad of every album we have released so far. We are in the writing/arranging process now and we are very excited! It’ll have a couple of new songs also with just piano and we’ll re-record new versions of the previously released ballads.
“The vocals complement each other very well with good melodies and harmonies. It almost seems appropriate that half of the song is sung together but not on the same melody but harmonizing against each other. Isn’t that what life is like? Together but on separate roads. This song displays that pain and loneliness together quite nicely.” – Lee Lontoc, VQS
