Dynamite flow and remarkable production!
Buckle up, MNERVA is bringing the fireworks!

Hi MNERVA, welcome to VQS!
Tell us a little bit about you and your music.

Originally hailing from Germantown, Maryland, MNERVA moved to Nashville in 2015 to hone his craft and debuted as a hip hop artist in early 2020 after going viral by writing a jukebox musical based on the catalog of twenty one pilots. But after enduring the Covid-19 pandemic, MNERVA embraced his rock background and began opening up about his struggles with mental health and his fear of the future. The result is his debut EP, Talk Too Much, a bombastic culmination of five years of personal hardships and self discovery. With this project, MNERVA has finally cemented his sound and is ready to challenge the conventional wisdom of combining rock and hip hop.

Congrats on the release!
What was your inspiration for this new song?

Released on October 15, 2021. This EP has been the culmination of five years of blood sweat and tears. The fact that it is now released feels absolutely surreal and finishing this project is one of my proudest accomplishments! Writing this record helped me survive my early twenties and I feel like a completely different person than the scared kid who wrote the EP’s first song in 2016. More than anything, Talk Too Much taught me that I needed help overcoming my mental health issues and that there’s no shame in that. I am now a more complete person because of this record. I still don’t know where my life is heading but listening through this project reminds me of how far I’ve come as a person and that life can and will get better than this.

What lessons would you like to impart with your audience?

That it is ok to seek out therapy and ask for help. Sometimes it feels like we are going through experiences alone but we aren’t.

Anything else we should know about it? Upcoming events?

Once the record comes out on October 15th, I’m excited to roll out four inter-connected music videos for the tracks. I’ll be releasing one of them a month until next year and I can’t wait to tell this cohesive story of overcoming your demons with everyone. From there, I have a bunch of shows at The End, The Analog Hotel, and the Five Spot coming up in Nashville and I am beyond excited to debut my dream band at these venues!
