Hi Nathalie, welcome to VQS! Tell us a little bit about you and your music.
I’m from Dunedin, Florida – let’s go 727! It’s my favorite place to be. I started out writing songs for local talent shows and participating in local singing competitions. When I was 15-years-old, I got a chance to be a constant on NBC’s TV show “The Voice”. I made it on Christina Aguilera’s team. I think after that I knew I wanted to pursue music. I went on to study at Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. Currently, my music is a mix of Pop and R&B elements. I listen to a lot of Daniel Cesear, Kehlani, Ari Lennox. Even a lot of Reggae and Reggaeton music. I know I’m influenced from those genres too. I play guitar too, so a lot of my songs will start with something I wrote just me singing with my guitar, and it’s so cool to watch the song transform into this masterpiece when the production starts coming together with my melodies.

Congrats on the release! What was your inspiration for this song?
Well honestly my inspiration came from having a shit day at work and I couldn’t wait to get home to see my boo. When I was having a bad day, he would always take away all that stress from me by just being great company. This song just came from feeling really grateful to be with someone who brings me so much peace and making sure that I give back that same amount of energy.

What is your vision for this song? What lessons would you like to impart with your audience?
When you have a really good thing going, make sure you’re checking in and giving back that same kind of effort and energy. Make sure they know they are appreciated for all they do. Wash their dishes. Tell them you love their face. That kind of stuff.

What is your favorite part of the song?
Wow, I love this question! Actually, this is a tough question. I love everything about this song. I love the train sample at the beginning. I wrote the first verse of this song on the train on my way home from work so it’s very fitting. I love the lyrics of the first verse because it really illustrates a day in the life. Cooking dinner, being silly. It’s the best when you’re with someone you love. I also love the vocal production of this song. It’s crisp and smooth all at the same time. Oh, and I love that fat bass underneath. Makes me make the stank face.

Anything else we should know about it? Future releases? Upcoming shows?
I’ve just really been focused on writing and recording new music. It’s been a fun journey to see my music and my style evolve. Definitely more music in the works so make sure you’re following ya girl!
