Hi Sandra, welcome to VQS!
Tell us a little bit about you and your music.
My name is Sandra North and I’m a country singer/songwriter from Sweden. I’ve finally completed and released my debut EP called “Long Time Coming”. It was a very time consuming project that took a few years to put together. “My Song” is the featured title track off the album and it’s official music video, produced by yours truly, was just released on January 21st 2022.

What was your inspiration when you were writing this project?
Lyrically it reveals a very personal and intimate story
that I hope to be empowering and inspiring to others.
Released on January 21, 2022. I wanted to bring forward my upbringing in a small town and my longing to find my place in this world. We all search for that inner peace and happiness and with the intense journey I’ve been on for these past few years in LA, I really felt the need to put all that into a song. The heart of the message for the listener is to encourage everyone to believe in themselves and go after what makes them happy!
What is your vision for this song?
Everytime I look out at the amazing views of LA I get the sense of how far I’ve come from that small town in Sweden where I was brought up. I’ve wanted to put that feeling into a song for the longest time and that’s exactly what I did with “My Song”. I’m so proud of my accomplishments and my journey and for getting my vision through 100% with this video.
It’s such a labor of love and with the help of my family back home I managed to capture all that was important to me growing up. Every detail in there is carefully chosen to portray my childhood in the most authentic way possible, including all the actual places where I grew up. This song is a celebration to that young girl inside of me that I always carry with me. I want her to know that she’s okay. She’s finally doing what she loves and she’s happy!
What is your favorite part of the song?
My favorite thing about this song is the fact that I finished it!
It was lying dormant for about 2 years until I finally got all the words just right. That is a huge accomplishment and there’s no greater feeling than when people also tell you they relate to it and sense how personal it is. So I think the reception is my second favorite thing. All the love and support people have shown. Musically it’s also very catchy and there’s almost like an anthem feeling to it. I would just love to see people singing along and swaying their arms in the air this summer when we get to go out and play!
Anything else we should know about it? Upcoming events?
YES! Since I’ll be spending more time in Sweden this year I’ll for sure be out playing this summer! I’ve just signed a booking deal with an agency in Gothenburg and booked my first festival in Joce City on July 22nd. Can’t wait to finally meet my Swedish audience in person!
