Hi Valerie and Rocco, welcome to VQS!
Tell us a little bit about you and your music.
We’re a husband and wife duo from Washington, DC.
Valerie: Hi, thanks so much for having us! Rocco and I have been married since 2012 and for years have wanted to create a pop project together to share joy and hope with the world. This past year gave us that opportunity: The extremely talented LA-based producer Ian Charlie (of Walla) helped us craft and record songs that we’re going to release throughout 2022.
Rocco: “Honey Let’s Go” is our debut single and is our love story – it starts out with our first date, travels through our engagement and marriage and now us doing life together. It’s a carefree, sing-at-the-top-of-your-lungs, road trip song that we hope puts a smile on your face!

What was your inspiration when you were writing this project?
We love sharing about our relationship – it’s such a crazy fun adventure!

Valerie: Thanks! Our marriage feels like a journey – we don’t know what’s around the next bend in the road, but that’s part of the fun in it, knowing that whatever we discover along the way that we’re on this roadtrip together!
Rocco: We love traveling and discovering new places together. During the beginning of the pandemic we did a LOT of drives together exploring new areas around DC, from the mountains in Virginia to the Atlantic coast. Our favorite adventures have been in the Arctic of Svalbard and the South Island of New Zealand. Wherever we go, it’s awesome to just get to spend quality time together!
What is your vision for this song?
What lessons would you like to impart with your audience?
Our hope is that everyone who hears this song winds up with a smile on their face and that it makes their day a little bit brighter!
Valerie: There are already enough breakup songs out there and we want to provide a breath of fresh air to give everyone something to laugh and smile about. Our marriage has been the joy of our lives and to be able to write such a personal song for the world to hear is intimidating but so exciting!
Rocco: Lessons to impart? Wow, we’re still learning here, I don’t know… Everyone should know that it can be so awesome being married to your best friend! It’s not a 50-50 relationship, it’s a 100-100 one, and we’re both “all in” on this journey together – marriage is the best!
What is your favorite part of the song?
Valerie: Definitely the second chorus!
“Jumping through the puddles in the evening glow
While winning all the contests on the radio (oh!)
Heaven only knew you were made for me and me for you
So Honey let’s go”
Especially the line, “Winning all the contests on the radio”. How that line made the final cut in the song still makes me laugh but it’s just so ridiculous, we had to keep it in there.
Rocco: Valerie LOVES radio contests and has a special knack for winning them. She’s won tons, including winning a week at space camp and winning a trip to Florida after being the 107th caller. It’s a fun, random, hilarious part of our relationship that we knew we wanted to include in the song.
