Whitney’s New Album: Apogee | Righteous
Putting the “Try” Back in Artistry…
“We’re just tiny particles burning out over the sea.” – Whitney Tai
Whitney Tai is purely in a class by herself. Finding a dynamic central point between Annie Lennox’s soulful immortality and Kate Bush’s lyrical art-pop, Tai creates cinematic soundscapes with retro-moderne tenacity.
Formed in 2015 with #1 Billboard Producer, Tim Janssens, the songwriting duo create classic, ethereal tracks pulsing with a heartbeat of the avant-garde.
Latest News: I just dropped my new single “Surrender” a few weeks ago and my next single “Righteous hits the waves on May 12th. These songs are from my forthcoming sophomore album, Apogee that drops in a few months.
Whitney, thank you for joining us today at VQS. Take us back in time to how you first fell in love with music.
I think music chose me, I didn’t have a say in the matter. But thank goodness, because it’s all I really think about. And coffee =)
What 3 core values do you believe are necessary for success?
Authenticity, Consistency and Persistence. At the root of it all, the messages we promote and standing by what we do should resonate with the purest part of our being. Especially now, when the world needs a beacon in a sea of uncertainty.
Who have been some of your favorite people/projects to work with?
I love working with my producer/co-writer Tim Janssens and my guitarist/co-writer, Andrew Kingsley. These two brilliant minds have been my sidekicks and we make sure there is a regular amount of laughter with the amount of work we do. It keeps us grounded, infuses youth into stressful moments like the ones we are facing and reminds us why we chose music in the first place to be our pulse.
What future opportunities would you like to be involved with?
I would love to offer creative counseling whether it be in helping artists harness confidence on or off stage or just general counsel to those struggling with mental health since I have been battling anxiety disorder since the age of 7. It has given me a newfound strength after years of pain. I would love nothing more than to offer healing and allow others to feel less alone or ignored by a society that puts mental health on the back burner.
