Alyssa, welcome to VQS! Tell us a little bit about you and your music.

I am a 20 year old singer-songwriter from San Diego, California. I would describe my music as pop, country, rock, and Americana. I love writing songs and have been singing and songwriting since I was 13. I love writing songs that tell a story and/or have a strong message, which you can see from the songs I’ve released. My biggest inspirations are Taylor Swift, Maren Morris, Colbie Caillat, and Alanis Morrissette.

Congrats on the release! What was your inspiration when you were writing this song?

Funny story! I was actually feeling on a long drive and felt sad. It was raining outside, hence why I wrote, “it’s raining again, out on the pavement, and inside my head”. From there, I decided to write a song based on weather concepts and somehow connect it to the emotions I was feeling. 

What is your vision for this song? What lessons would you like to impart with your audience?

In the end, this song ended up being a song about going through tough times but staying strong and coming out better on the other side. I think this song’s message is needed now more than ever with this pandemic. This song is saying that no matter what life throws at you, you have to keep pushing forward.

What is your favorite part of the song?

My favorite part of the song is the chorus. I really like that I was able to use weather terms to showcase the message I wanted to convey. I love the positive message and upbeat melody, and I hope that it lifts people’s spirits when they hear it. 

Anything else we should know about it? Future releases? Upcoming events?

I have one more song ready to release, so stay tuned! I am planning to release it when life gets back to normal. I had upcoming shows, but most have been cancelled because of Covid-19. I do have 9 other songs out of all streaming platforms and 3 music videos up of youtube! All my songs tell a story and I hope you enjoy what you hear!
