“I’ve been fighting a lot of battles, I want to inspire people not to give up during hard times cause theres always better days.” – Vanessa Béjine

Vanessa, welcome back to VQS! Tell us a little bit about you and your music.
My name is Vanessa Béjine (Pronounced like Bay-Sheen). I am an American Latina/Filipina Pop Artist creating positive music for the world. I have been singing since the age of 5 and moved around a lot due to having a father in the military. Came to Los Angeles about 8 years ago to pursue my music, and during those 8 years Ive learned and grew quite immensely. Given the trials I had to face on my own, you tend to learn a bit quicker. Felt like I was constantly in front line battle for half of those years. From anxiety, to loneliness, family addictions, out of work for long periods of time, not having a place to live, sleeping in my car, no real friends, discouragement and just trying to find my purpose in life. It wasn’t till I found my church Rocky Peak that my life really started to transform. Ive always been a child of God, but this was a whole new experience and learning curve for me to trust and know God more. So my music is based off of my life story. How I came to overcome my battles. I want to share my story of defeat, through music with the world in hopes to make a positive impact.

“It’s important we keep pushing on even in the moments we feel we cant go on anymore. Its during those moments that some of our biggest breakthroughs happen.”

Congrats on the release! What was your inspiration for this song?
Better Days was written based off of my own personal experiences of hardships. I had been out of work for over 6 months, my landlord had been pocketing my rent at this time as well so my place was getting foreclosed on and I had to find somewhere new to live. My mom had been in a horrible car accident, music was slow so I was getting a bit discouraged and at times I wondered if I was on the right path in life. I remember sitting in the studio with Andrew Lane and he was like, “Ok, so what do you want this song to be about?” I was like, ” Well, I’ve been fighting a lot of battles, I want to inspire people not to give up during hard times cause theres always better days,” he was like, “Better Days, I like that.” So it began…
What is your vision for this song? What lessons would you like to impart with your audience?
Encouragement. Definitely. Every day is not always going to be good. You will have good days and not so good days. Hard times are often put into place to help us learn and grow. Its important we keep pushing on even in the moments we feel we cant go on anymore. It’s during those moments that some of our biggest breakthroughs happen. We realize our strength and what we are capable of. We become stronger and hard to break.
What is your favorite part of the song?
Oooh, that’s a tough one. Im gona have to say the bridge. I like the flow of it and how the lyrics are short but straight to the point.
Anything else we should know about it? Future releases? Upcoming shows?
Be on the look out for Better Days Music Video. We are scheduled to shoot it in about a week, so it should be out in the next 3 weeks. Don’t go far. Also finishing up my very first album, so I am super excited about that. It will be released this Summer, so stay tuned. Would love your support and feedback on it. Then of course hoping to tour in 2021.
