New Single, “Something New“

Caley’s new song brings smiles and lightness in these dark times.

Hi Caley, welcome to VQS! Tell us a little bit about you and your music.

It took one spontaneous jump off a 360 foot cliff in New Zealand for Buffalo born Caley Rose to discover that she was a songwriter. She enrolled at the Songwriting School of LA the moment her feet hit US ground and began writing for pop and electronic artists, before deciding to share her story through her own heartfelt music. This former opera and Off-Broadway singer’s songs have been featured in commercials for Lipton and Tomorrowland Music Festival, and songs she’s written have received awards from the Mid-Atlantic Song Contest and the Empower Posi Music Awards. Her past life as a voice over actress and her sunny, candid demeanor gives her Indie Pop sound a fresh twist.

Congrats on the release! What was your inspiration when you were writing this song?

“Something New,” just won an award from the emPower Positive Song Awards! Audiences from sold out Hotel Cafe shows in LA to Sofar Sounds Shows in Seattle have loved singing along with this song in live shows. It was written on the day I found out that I was pregnant with my first child, who is currently 1 month old and sleeping on my lap as I type this. Traditionally, women will wait months to share pregnancy news, but I’m a songwriter, therefore I have no secrets! Also, I feel that good news is meant to be celebrated, which is what “Something New” is about: being fearless to celebrate good news by shouting it from the rooftops.

What is your vision for this song? What lessons would you like to impart with your audience?

“Something New” to bring some smiles and lightness to listeners in these dark times. I want it to inspire people to sing along and to be fearless to share their good news.

What is your favorite part of the song?

The chorus. Audiences always sing along to the chorus’ “babadadas” when I perform it live! It makes performing it so fun.
